Free flight : Trimming
Definition:
Persuading a free-flight model into the flight pattern you want...or which suits it best.
Goal
Scale fliers want models that fly like the real thing - generally slowly, Duration fliers want a reproducible pattern that will give the longest flight, sports fliers probably just want a safe flight that ends in the field.
Rubber Models - Sport and Scale
It is probably best to start with an idea of what you want to achieve, but most of us will be happy if a model flies at all. I find John Koptonak's guide 10 step guide to be a great starting point. Once the model is flying, but not quite how you want it to - try the basic visual guide for peanut models from Bill Hannan or the more comprehensive William McCombs guide that is more specifically for indoor scale models and goes into more detail.
Indoor duration models
I have never seriously tried to fly these light, delicate models Do contact me if you have some expertise in this area that you would be willing to share.
Outdoor duration models - rubber or IC power
I have never seriously tried to fly these models Do contact me if you have some expertise in this area that you would be willing to share.
